MENSAGEM

August 23, 2004

To LaRES Delegates,

On behalf of the International Real Estate Society and the American Real Estate Society, I am honored to welcome you all to the LaRES meetings and to congratulate you and your organizing committee on what appears to be an exciting few days of sharing your research and teaching methods. I would also like to strongly encourage you to continue your efforts to develop the Latin American Sister Society as a vibrant and established organization. Although I am well aware that it has been a long slow process, but as the saying goes, "Rome was not built overnight". It is evident to me that the work your leaders have done most recently with the IRES Board has started moving LaRES in a positive direction for increased growth and success toward your goals of expanding the quality and prominence of real estate education and research. We wish you the very best for a great meeting where you will learn and grow from your shared research.

We also hope that you will become a close knit community of scholars that support each and work together to expand real estate education and research throughout your part of the world. Although I would have loved to attend the conference (previous commitments forced me to decline an invitation to attend), the IRES board and I are anxiously awaiting a full report of your meetings. We are looking forward to working with you over the next couple of years, as you work to expand the membership of the organization to other countries as you build this important regional society of the International Real Estate Society. If there is anything we can do to help your progress, please do not hesitate to ask. Best of luck to you all for a truly fulfilling but also a fun filled conference!

All the best,

Elaine Worzala
2003 President of the International Real Estate Society and
President-Elect of the American Real Estate Society
